There is a popular saying that recently has made its way into songs and internet memes that says, “just breathe.”
The reason the saying resonates with people is that it taps into our nature as humans and the nature of God’s breath in our lungs.
It urges us to take a moment away from crying babies, deadlines, unreasonable coworkers, and demanding bosses to catch our breath and “breathe”–To breathe out all negativity and breathe in God’s breath to us.
It reminds us to center ourselves in the Garden of God’s love and life.
It alludes to the breath of Life in creation and the refreshing rest found in the breath of the Spirit. It reminds us to return to our center to tap into the rest of God found in the Garden of His presence.
